The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has granted a six-month extension to Bharti Enterprises-backed Eutelsat OneWeb and the Jio-SES joint venture, Orbit Connect India, allowing continued use of provisional satellite spectrum until November 2025. The extension provides additional time for both companies to comply with the government’s new mandatory security guidelines issued in May this year, both Moneycontrol and Livemint reported, citing officials familiar with the matter.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the fourth largest telecom operator in the country, recently launched the Q-5G FWA (fixed wireless access) service. BSNL’s Q-5G FWA service could be a game changer for the telco. The company’s Q-5G FWA plans start at Rs 999 per month. There are two plans currently announced by BSNL. These plans cost Rs 999 and Rs 1499 per month.

CAIRO, June 21, 2025 (AP) — A breakdown in communications networks in central and southern Gaza has cut many Palestinians off from the outside world for the past week, further straining aid efforts and emergency services amid continuing Israeli bombardment. Israeli strikes damaged a main connection, cutting off communications in large areas of the strip since Tuesday, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, based in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
